If you’ve ever dreamed of a couples session that’s a little wild, a little messy, and a whole lot of fun, this one’s for you. I always tell my couples that the best photos happen when you let go of perfection and just play — and D + J totally understood the assignment. This paint and wildflower session up near the Rattlesnake Wilderness in Missoula was pure joy from start to finish.

The evening was warm, the light was golden, and the valley stretched out behind us — that dreamy Montana view that makes you want to slow down and breathe it all in. But slowing down wasn’t exactly in the plan for these two. From the moment the paint came out, they were laughing, chasing each other, and turning blank canvases (and each other) into works of art. It was playful, colorful chaos — and honestly, I couldn’t stop smiling behind my camera.

What I loved most about D + J was how completely themselves they were. There was no posing or overthinking — just genuine love, laughter, and a little bit of paint everywhere. The way they looked at each other through all the splatters and mess said everything. It wasn’t about perfect outfits or clean hands — it was about connection, and the freedom to just be.

As the sun started to dip, the wildflowers around us seemed to glow. The paint streaks caught the last bits of light, and it felt like the whole scene came alive — bright, wild, and full of love. It was one of those sessions that reminds me why I do what I do — capturing real moments that feel as spontaneous and joyful as the people in them.
